As of today, August 3, 2026, Raven Patents has been in business for six years. It hasn't been a particularly smooth ride at times, I will admit, but I'm still here in my little office trying to get my clients their patents.

As of today I was also able to submit a Declaration of Use and Declaration of Incontestability for my registered service mark "Raven Patents". I didn't intend to register a trademark when I began this adventure, but circumstances more or less forced my hand. I think it is a good mark, however, and I try to make sure it means something positive to the folks that recognize it.

Most people do not know that I originally intended to name my firm "Corvus Patents," from the latin Corvus for the genus of crows and ravens. Unfortunately this was in 2020, and I had several kind folks talk me out of it because of the similarity between "corvus" and "covid." I'm still a little bit sad I couldn't use Corvus Patents, but it was almost certainly the right decision, and I'm now very attached to the name I used.
